Dry Goods Gallery, Windsor, ON

August 14 - November 17, 2024

In The Poetics of Space, Gaston Bachelard reflects on how memories remain still, becoming more sound when securely anchored in space. This idea drives my work, as I explore how memory can take physical form, especially through the human traces left on historic sites. Rachel Whiteread describes this as “the residue of years and years of use.” Using latex casting methods, I capture intricate details in architecture, drawing attention to the often-overlooked elements in our built environment. These skin-like latex impressions act as ghostly mirrors of their original surfaces.

The Dry Goods Gallery Space provides a perfect frame for the cast windows, creating a dialogue between the site and the artwork—windows within a window. This accessible viewpoint invites passersby to pause, look more closely at their surroundings, and appreciate the details and stories embedded in Windsor’s historic architecture.
